Art Brandstatter; Class of 1958

Art Brandstatter, Jr. was a three sport athlete, who earned eleven varsity letters while at East Lansing High School, in Football (4), Basketball (4) and Baseball (3).  Brandstatter had success in all three sports.  In football, Art earned the honor of All-Conference and All-State.  He was name a High School All-American and was selected to represent the All-American Team against the Pennsylvania Big 33 in the mid-1950s.  Art was named All-Conference and All-State in basketball, where he held school and city scoring records and he earned All-City and All-Conference recognition in baseball.

Upon graduation, Art attended Michigan State University, where he played basketball for two years and football for four years.  In 1960, Art lead the Michigan State University football team in scoring.

After completing his college education, Art pursued careers in the Auto Industry, Finance and Insurance fields. 

As an adult, Art has contributed to over forty years of coaching youth football.  He serves as a member on the Michigan State University Players Association Board, and the Greater Lansing Sports Hall of Fame Selection Committee.

Art and his wife, Patsy, live in East Lansing and are very active in their community.  He has eight children and nineteen grandchildren and can routinely be seen at a variety of East Lansing athletic events.
